Cheque Discontinuation

From October 1st, 2021, we are no longer be offering cheques as method of payment. This decision hasn’t been made lightly so to understand why we’re making the change and learn about our other convenient payment solutions, please keep reading.

Why are we discontinuing cheques?

Protecting our customers has always been our number one priority. As simpler and more secure payment methods have become available in recent years, we want to ensure our customers are using the safest payment options available.

When will cheques no longer be available?

In November 2020, we began phasing out cheques for both business and personal customers, having seen a rapid decline in usage during the previous 24 months.

As of March 2021, we are no longer offering cheques and will no longer support cheque payments from 1 December 2021 onwards. We will continue to accept cheques deposited from other financial institutions until further notice.

 

What payment options are available instead of cheques?

The simplest and fastest way to make payments is through our online banking portal or through our Goldfields Money mobile app. Every Goldfields Money customer has access to online banking so if you have lost your login credentials or are yet to set up your account, please call us on 1300 GO 4 GOLD (1300 464 465).

Aside from online banking, you will also be able to use your Goldfields Money debit card or cash as normal, and can purchase money orders at selected Australian Post branches (click here for more information).

 

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I pay someone without a cheque?

The simplest way to pay someone, particularly larger amounts, is a direct debit through the Goldfields Money Online Banking Portal or through our Goldfields Money App. To learn more about Internet Banking, please view our help guide. You can also use your Goldfields Money debit card or cash as normal.

Can someone still pay me with a cheque?

Unfortunately we are unable to accept cheque payments into your account. Please request the party making the cheque payment to instead transfer the funds directly into your account as it remains one of the safest payment options available. Simply provide payers your BSB and bank account number, both of which can be found in your Online Banking portal. What will I need to do with my old cheque book(s)?
